PRAYER LETTERS

Schooling: Past, Present, and Future

For me, graduation was never too exciting… because I knew that more schooling was right around the corner.  After high school, there was college. After college, there was graduate school.  After graduate school, there is the “school of hard knocks.” The past two months, there has been much learning in our family.

PAST

We just finished our second week of Candidate School at the beginning of this month.  Our day began with class at 8 am and ended around 4 pm each day with a 7 pm service each evening.  We were encouraged as we heard from other missionaries on deputation how God has been providing for them and teaching them as well.

Learning how to travel and live in a minivan has been an interesting experience. College never taught what to pack and what not to pack for a family of four on deputation. When you have your wardrobe, office, library, toys, beds for children, kitchen, presentation materials, and anything else you need all crammed into a van, it ends up looking like the picture above.  We have been getting much better at knowing what to bring and what to leave home.

PRESENT

We are learning that “we will reap, if we faint not.” We have been asking you to pray that we would see someone trust in Christ as his/her Savior from our personal witnessing.  At the end of April, while sharing the Gospel house-to-house, another gentleman from our home church and I had the privilege of leading a young college lady to Christ. After trusting Christ as her Savior, Jennifer has been coming to our church and has even brought her parents and boyfriend as well.  Pray for her parents to be saved.

Abby is progressing with her potty-training but still has a way to go before we can stop buying diapers. Keep praying that Abby will become more consistent in this area.

Due to circumstances in May, one of them being the death of Stephanie’s grandfather, we were not able to have our language lessons with our Romanian friend in Memphis, TN. We have, however, been able to learn a lot through the Romanian studies we have been doing on our own. Keep praying for us to have a good foundational knowledge of the language before leaving for language school.

FUTURE

We still have much to learn in the future: Romanian, Moldovan law and culture, church planting, and much more. Pray that we will be faithful in learning what God has to teach us as we continue on in the school of life.

                                                                                 Pray for Moldova,

David, Stephanie, Abby, and Caleb Gross
